Where Are All The Hippies?

With all the fighting in the middle east, the United States has spent a lot of time, money, and lost many lives in a seemingly never-ending battle against a widespread group of extremists. This war has taken more from us than it claims to have protected us from, and it will continue to do so until we stop causing trouble for ourselves. It's one thing to protect ourselves, or even to retaliate after an attack, but at what point are we no longer acting in defense and stepping over the line into offensive attacking? Why do we not see how our actions only make the situation so much worse, fostering more and more hatred and disgust toward the United States? Where are all the hippies protesting for peace? Why is this war going on for so long with no group rising up to stand against it? Where is the peace? Where is the love? It's time we put an end to war, not by fighting harder and winning, but by deciding instead to choose peace over destruction.
